Even though I doubt this bill stands a chance in leaving the committee that it is introduced in this is definitely a move in the right direction.

Thoughts?

If there is increasing evidence that Cannabis sativa is beneficial in treating and resolving medical conditions, it should gain support. As Cannabis sativa is a Schedule I drug, the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy would have input where and how it should be dispensed and administered.

It won't be the end of the world. In California we have basically legalized cannabis. The benefits to the State treasury will be substantial.

There's no doubt it has benefits, and should be legalized. There are some drawbacks too, I'm sure.

This needs to be done for those that are suffering without and those that aren't going without that are on the wrong side of the law so they can have productive lives. I've seen it first hand. My late husband suffered with Crohn's disease for over 30 years and probably had it when he was diagnosed with stomach ulcers as a youngster in the late 1950's. A friend gave him a joint when he was a teen and told him it would help his stomach; and, of course, it did, immediately! Over the years, when he didn't have or couldn't get any he suffered greatly; unable to eat, losing weight and in pain. As he got older, Crohn's wasn't the only disease he suffered with. To combat arthritis he was prescribed opioids (hydrocodone). He didn't want to be addicted to opioid medications but eventually he needed more to be able to live a productive life. In 2012 he was approved for Social Security Disability and on July 2, 2015, they found a massive tumor in his kidneys that spread to his lungs. In 20 days he was dead. After reading the following article maybe you'll agree with me, that any further delay in passing MMJ in SC is unacceptable!
