Thank you for your reply. You and I seem to view the available evidence in the same way. BTW, I was a mainframe programmer in business applications for about seven years.

Why though, there's not enough demand. Plus the whole push over-saturates the entry-level and drives down wages.

Learning programming is a good mental exercise, but I don't see why it should be required. It's probably more practical to learn about nutrition or personal finance.
