Default Vacation: SC or NC

Hello! We are taking a week long vacation in August and are trying to decide between SC or NC. Any recommendations or advice? I would appreciate anything. Thank you.

Charleston is a must see city. Food is great, fun shopping, August is perfect beach weather. The water should be in the mid 80's.

What is your price range? Pinehearst is great for golf on the high end, Linchfield and seabrook for the beach. Myrtle beach for the lower price beach...
