I'm only 52 and in excellent health. My partner is 62 and he has a heart condition so we would need to be near a good hospital.

I would look within 30 minutes of Columbia which would provide all of your wants along with access to quality healthcare. The north side would probably be preferential given the majority of hospitals (and better ones) are north of downtown Columbia.
