Latta is a nice community. I have several family members who own homes there currently and my mother was raised there. As for Florence i have always found it to be boring and we would go hang out in Lumberton, NC as opposed to Florence when i was in high school. I think Lumberton is about 35 minutes from Florence right off of I95.

Default Help!

Hi everyone!

I need help. My family and I are being relocated to South Carolina. We've never been there. My dad will be working in Florence. We don't really know where to look for homes. We have to either be in Florence or in a town close to it. If anyone has any suggestions on where to live or a site to look for homes that would be so great! Thank you so much!

Sincerely,

Kyrie Riley

Hey, I live just outside of Florence in a town called Effingham. Its nice area if you dont want to live directly in town. If you, then the best areas of Florence to live in is definitely West and South side of town. Hartsville which is 20 minutes away would be the best town to live in thats not far away. I live near Forest Lake, which is a large nice area, other areas I recommend are Windsor Forest, Lake Oakdale, Vintage Place, Florence Country Club area, and Foxcroft. You can research these areas to see which best interests you. I hoped I help.

Default Possibly moving to Florence.....

Hi everyone! I am new to this site as well as new to the Florence area. I have been offered a job here which means that my husband and I will possibly be moving here. However, my husband and I don't know the best areas to live but have read on this post that the West and Southwest sides of Florence are the best places. We will be moving from a small town in Kentucky (similar to another post) and don't mind living in a "small town". We are most worried about crime rates and living in a decent neighborhood. We don't have children so are not that concerned about the schools. My husband will be attending college if we move to the area to finish up his teaching degree--any recommendations about a good college?

Eventually, we would have to buy a house but would more than likely be living in an apartment for a few months. Any good recommendations about nice, affordable, pet friendly apartments? Any other helpful information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the help!

Francis Marion University (FMU) Francis Marion University - Home: FMU Home is located just east of Florence and has a high quality School of Education with reasonable tuition. The Patriot Place Apartments are located across from FMU, however, the only things on that side of town are a Food Lion grocery store and the flea market.

Powers Properties (843-667-4900) runs several apartment complexes in west Florence, which is closer to shopping and dining. They have a new complex called Sommerset Apartments that runs about $725 per month. I don't know if they allow pets. I definitely agree you should rent before buying so you can find a neighborhood in your price range that is safe.

Most neighborhoods on the west and south sides of Florence are safe and so are the rural areas of Florence and Darlington counties. Pamplico is about the only safe small town close to Florence. Hartsville is nice, but about 35-40 minutes away.
