BMW bought the car carrier company they were using to ship SUVs out of Charleston.

Kia and Hyundai are building cars for the US market. Not sure about Mercedes.

Looks like SC is out of the running and it's down to NC and Alabama: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...rolina-alabama

It would be sad if South Carolina is indeed out of contention for the Toyota-Mazda plant. South Carolina could use the economic investment and jobs.

My guess for where the plant will be if it's NC is either somewhere between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach, or the Lumberton/Fayettville area to take advantage of the Dillon inland port.

Every state could but I'm not surprised that SC is out of the running given that it just landed Volvo not too long ago, which seems to be the better deal between it and Mazda-Toyota.

A megasite in Randolph County seems to be the frontrunner for an NC location.

I wonder if not bringing in additional jobs could work against Henry McMaster in his 2018 gubernatorial campaign.

It's still too early in his administration to arrive at that conclusion.

For what it's worth, Alabama landed the plant.

Domtar dropped out of the F500 last year, so that means SC's number of F500's is now 0. Landing the plant would've been great from a job perspective, but I do hope SC will eventually start competing and get more agreesive in more of a white collar, professional market as well.

Especially with all this incoming growth into Charleston, Greenville, and Columbia.
