I know new stores see an abnormal influx of business when they first open but I have to think that the response to this new Ingles exceeds what they expected. The parking lot is constantly full. They have lots of employees to help - looks like they are temporarily staffing with extra managers from other stores. It will be interesting to see what the more permanent level of business is for this new store.
They seem to be pretty actively working on removing items out of the old store. I think the Ingles signs on the old store were all removed within 24 hours.
Hopefully the success of this store will lead to more local remodels. Some of the stores in Greenville County are long overdue for renovation. I haven't been in the newest Harris Teeter store yet but the format of the new Ingles in Powdersville can compete with any of the other grocery stores in the area.

The reception of Ingle's #73 is positive.
I do not expect BI-LO #5568, Powdersville Plaza, 3518 Highway 153, Greenville, South Carolina 29611-7553, to be open in two years. BI-LO #5568 has taken a step toward closing by reducing its hours of operation to 0700 hours to 2200 hours daily.

I think this Bilo opened in 2002? and has not been updated a lick since then.
When I left Winn Dixie in 1993, I would have NEVER thought that Bilo would have fell so far and Ingle's would have stores like the new one in P'ville.

Items from Ingle's #73 Mark II, the old store, could be sent to other stores to sell or donated to charities.
Ingle's Markets should focus on the Greenville County market indeed. Four stores are up for rebuild/replacement/expansion projects. At least two additional Ingle's stores are planned.
Aside from an additional store planned on Pearman Dairy Road in Anderson, I do not know if Ingle's Markets is planning additional stores in the Anderson County market.

BI-LO #5568 opened in 1998 as BI-LO #201. It is at twenty years of operation. I would be surprised if BI-LO #5568 reaches twenty-five years of operation if it remains open in 2023.

Pearman Dairy Road seems like an odd location to invest in for a new store. The Williamston area is a significant food desert that could support an additional grocery retailer. People that live in Williamston currently have to drive to Pelzer where Bi-Lo is the lone supermarket or into Anderson for other options.
The area out near Wren High School is also seeing a lot of residential growth and will be able to support a supermarket in the near future. A store near the I-85 / SC-86 exit could potentially draw people driving home from work in both the Wren and Piedmont areas, neither of which have anything much outside of the Save-a-Lot store in Piedmont.
Ingle's Markets had plans to open an additional store at the location of Ingle's #39 Mark I in 2008.
Williamston and Wren are due for supermarkets. Williamston has been a grocery desert since Winn-Dixie #1018, Town Square Center, 21 Pelzer Avenue, Williamston, South Carolina 29697-1023, closed in 2005. The Wren community has more residences now to support a supermarket.
