Hi....
I was actually born there.... but that was 37 years ago....
I dont know alot about it since I moved to Florida when I was 10 and actually never lived there, however my cousin lives there and one of my husbands friends from Florida just moved there and loves it.
I do beleive it is very close to Catawba, Edgemoor, & Richburg, and I believe Indian Land.
We are planning to move to Edgemoor, SC which is consider Chester County... If we are talking about the same "Lancaster"... I also believe that is Chester County as well.
The cost of living seems to be pretty low in those areas.
I hope this was somewhat helpful.

Regarding Lancaster, SC (the county is Lancaster) it's pretty spread out. Parts of Lancaster butt up to the NC border. The part of Lancaster (this includes an area called Indian Land too) that is closest to the NC border has been discovered by developers now since it is close to the South Charlotte and Ballantyne areas. Del Webb is building a retirement community called Sun City Carolina Lakes. Anything around this area has gone up in price quite a bit lately. But there are areas a little farther out where deals can still be had.
As far as crime you might check the police departments website.
Good Luck with your search!

Hi Judy...if you are interested in the Del Webb development you might take a look at our local paper (go to Fort Mill Times online, and put Sun City in the search box). They have already begun taking orders..(and it appears that sales are brisk)
Another active adult community doing quite well is called Four Seasons at Gold Hill, located in Fort Mill, SC

Lancaster and Chester are seperate counties side by side in Lower County. The Indian Land area of Lancaster is growing by leaps and bounds. I'm not really sure the county really knows what it's getting itself into, but it's also hard to stop development, which I'm not saying we should do anyway.
The cost of living is bound to skyrocket in that part ofLancaster while the southern, more historical part of Lancaster such as Kershaw and Heath Springs, languishes.
