I think there's a greater chance of hostility when it's a black man with a young, attractive white woman. In that case white men feel jealousy, and it activates centuries-old notions of black men "corrupting our chaste young women." If the white woman is homely, overweight, or old, people don't really care. But in any case very few people would ever express any hostility openly to the couple.
Oh my gosh ! What an example of the extremes that human psyche can dive into, when we fail to deal properly with ramped up insecurities .
John golf - hopefully that means when the older generation dies off we can finally all be rid of the Ugly elephant in the room .
I think it will decline over time but I still have a few younger family members that have absorbed the racial BS that surrounded them while growing up. It's sad to see the hatred that their parents spouted coming out of the mouth of the younger generation.
Interracial couples are pretty common in this area and you won't likely encounter much, if any open hostility. There is some underlying racism from a minority that is still festering, though.
I have a biracial family and I have had no trouble in Greenville. It is a very ethnically diverse city, and in addition to my own family, I see many biracial couples. Not even a second look. Someone posted that people “stare politely” but I’m not sure how staring is considered polite. People see what they want to see when they are emotionally invested. Confirmation bias, I guess. Greenville would be a great place to relocate to for a diverse family.

From what I see upstate politicians trying to do, that is the least liberal part of SC.
Columbia tends to embrace inter-racial couples, in my experience. There is a large minority population and a lot of non-southerners due to USC and Fort Jackson. Our neighborhood (close to downtown) reminds me of west coast neighborhoods in WA or OR, rather than a stereotypical southern neighborhood. Good luck!
Smaller cities I'm not sure but the bigger cities in sc people don't even pay attention
This...
I lived in SC, bigger cities are certainly more welcoming...
