S.C. Ports Authority lengthens timeline for Jasper port (Charleston: taxes, estimates)

I'm starting to wonder if this thing will ever happen...

Lawmakers were informed in a recent email from South Carolina Ports Authority president and CEO Jim Newsome that the Jasper port will not be needed until 2035 based on updated capacity estimates for the Savannah and Charleston ports.

Jasper County councilman and chamber of commerce president Marty Sauls said last week the Ports Authority had not shared that update with county officials.
