No, its not a flood zone since it's the other side of the intracostal. The builder rep only had one recommendation of an insurance company. I'm still shopping around, so I wanted some other recommendations.

We use State Farm... they were the best quote for us on the east side of the ICW. But we had to insure our vehicles with them too to get the decent price.

Maybe I should get another quote because my cousins use them (also located in Carolina Forest) and they aren't paying much. They quoted me almost $2000 with the discount if I used them for cars too. Seems high.

We use Sherry Hitchcock Ins. Agency - our insurance is thru Safeco.

They were the cheapest for us, we were also getting quotes about $2000

Check with Liberty Mutual, or like Rapture said, Ameriprise. They have given INCREDIBLE rates to some of my coworkers. Unfortunately, my home is too close to the ocean for them to insure..

I use Peerless Insurance, a division of Liberty Mutual. I had been with State Farm for years but when I moved to SC they were WAY higher than anyone else I got quotes from. Like TWICE as much for the same coverage. I was told by several coworkers that State Farm is higher in SC because they don't have the presence that they have in NC but not sure on that. After seeing how insurance companies left many Katrina victims hanging "high and dry", I would do ALOT or research on the company if I lived near the coast. Remember, like anything balance cost with reputation- you get what you pay for.

I have Liberty Mutual for my car insurance, and they told me they don't insure in the Carolina Fores area.

Interesting. They may have stopped writing policies here.. I'm not sure. I was actually with Prudential but the P&C lines were bought out by Liberty Mutual a couple years ago...
