I'm another ex-Dillon girl. I happened to be Miss Dillon High in the year the big sombrero was built and had the dubious distinction to 'christen' it along with a live broadcast of WDBO - Fairmont's popular radio station of the time and J W Pittman - their most popular DJ. Those were the days! LOL
SOB has always been a tourist trap. However, in the past it had the best steak house in town - The Peddler and was a good place to go for a fun night of put-put and rides. Hey....Dillon's a small town - with very little to do!
Alan Shafer, the original owner, passed several years ago and I have been told that he would turn over in his grave if he were to see what it has become.
