Has anyone had any experience with snakes in pools? We also have 2 Black Labs and I'm worried about snake bites. Some tell me not to worry about it but its my greatest fear.

I live in Anderson, SC-- We have snakes but mostly the kind that run from you. Every State has snakes. But NO they are not a problem.

I have livied here six years now. I have never heared of a snake being in a pool. Snake will run befor trying to bit. We have six ac. here and a creek too. I have snakes here on our land. We also have five dogs.
None of them have ever been bitten by a snake. The snakes will run when the dogs are by. I lived in WV where I had German Shep. dogs. Boy he did not like snakes, he did kill them.
you will be ok

Smile Snakes in Chlorinated Pools?

About the only snake you have to worry about around here is a water moccasin. They are extremely territorial and will come after you if you're in the neighborhood. I had a run in with a couple up on Lake Wateree. But I can't imagine them in a chemical-laden swimming pool.
Rattlesnakes are more prevelent around here and if your dog wants to play too close, they will get bitten. But the bite isn't leathal. My Boxer got bitten on two occasions, years ago. The bite sites swelled up really big and she felt kinda crummy for a few hours but she was fine the next morning.
All in all, a good population of snakes, which don't carry diseases, means few rodents, which do carry diseases.

WOW, I must be missing something!! I live here in Florida and I have had a run in or two with a few big rattlesnakes , but I have never heard of one that poison isn't lethal. I know of kids down here as well as dogs who have been killed by a rattlesnake bite!!! They must be a different bread of snake there then!!!!!!
