Grammi - the property taxes are low but that depends on what you're comparing them to. Tell us what area you are interested in and your price range and you will get more responses. A REALTOR is the best to contact to help you but you have to help them by giving them as much info. as possible, including a pre-qualification letter if you need a loan to purchase. You said they don't want to be bothered, so I'm guessing you have already contacted a few? What did you ask for?

South Carolina also has several tax exemptions for senior citizens on property taxes, I'm simply speaking off of your name so if you are not a senior citizen ignore the comment but if you are you might want to check and see if you qualify for any of them. You can also do a rent to own deal just make sure all the arrangements are as binding as a mortgage. For a mobile home on a piece of property small towns will better options. I came from a small town county and moved to Columbia three years ago and from what I've seen a smaller town area would be better for a mobile home.
