Default Moving to Sc :) Help!!

Hi everyone!!!

We are seriously considerg moving to SC. We have been looking and seem to think that northeastern SC is where we would like to be.

We are from MA. We have 3 kiddos 10,6,and 1 so good schools are important to us.

My hubby is in construction. I am a stay @ home mom.

We would like something with a good piece of land. My daugher rides horses and will be getting her own once we move. I don't want to be too far inland. maybe an hour to and hour and a half at the most.

Any suggestions???

HI, there are several towns in SC that welcome horses. We do have the horse track in Camden for The Cup. Anywhere around this area would all for a great horse experience. If you get into the NE of SC you will be farther than 1.5 hours from the coast. Also in the Camden area there is Lake Wateree which is bordered by several counties, Kershaw County, Lancaster County, and Fairfield County. These are the ones I am familiar with. I live in Fairfield County. Any of these counties are very horse friendly. As far as schools, my 7 yr old attends a private school in West Columbia and my one and two year olds are not old enough, yet. I know Camden has a good private school and Blythewood schools are considered good public schools, I have also heard praises on Lancaster co schools. If you get it narrowed down to a place let us know or if you have any other questions. If your husband is in construction Blythewood had a 33% growth in new houses being built this year and the Fort Mill and Lancaster areas are growing fast. Blythewood is in Richland County which is the county of our Capital, Columbia.

Camden would be about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from the beach, but it is major horse territory and is a cool little town. You would also only be a half hour from Columbia if you needed something that you couldn't get in Camden. Aiken is the other major "horse" area in South Carolina, but it would be even further from the beach. I'm not a small town person, but as small towns go, Camden is pretty cool.

We don't neccesarily have to be in "horse county" Just want a place that if she has a horse it is ok.

What about Galivants Ferry, Pamplico, or Aynor?

Pamplico is nice and close to Florence. Galivants Ferry doesn't have much activity and has the Little Pee Dee River. Aynor is about 45 minutes from the beach but land prices might be higher. You might want to look at Lake View, Nichols, Marion or Mullins if you want to be closer to the beach. Camden is very nice but I'm sure land prices are higher the closer you are to 'horse county'. Might be easier to determine how much land you need. You might even find a home with a few acres reasonably price and many areas do not have deed restrictions. Email me if I can help.

Outside of Conway and/or Myrtle Beach would probably work as well. There is a lot of construction at the beach, but plenty of land just inland. We have a friend who lives in Conway and his daughter has a horse.

I'm from MA too, so it might be a bit of a culture shock for the kids (depending on which part of Mass).

I don't have kids, but there are a couple of private schools. St. Andrew's Catholic School is in the top 10 in the nation.

We are from Plymouth Ma. Down by the Cape. I don't think it will be too bad for the kids. They are looking forward to the move and nicer weather! As am I!

Hard to decide where to go though!

Smile From the cape...looking to move to SC

HI there- Sounds like we are in the same boat. We live on Cape Cod and have been in MA our entire lives. We have a 4 yr old daughter and want to have more children...the warmer year round weather and home prices are the main reason we want to relocate. We are looking at Anderson/Clemson/Easley area and hope to drive down next month to check things out. My husband owns a landscaping company and we are trying to see if that would work down there as well. We are just a couple of months into this search..any helpful tid bits you guys already figured out?

Too funny! Small world. We are still trying to figure out the ins and outs of things. We plan on going in a month or two and check it out and try to narrow down an area.

Let me know how you make out! Do you have family there? We are mostly looking anywhere from Conway to Florence.... but are open for suggestions

I have been reading alot about the Greenvile and its outskirts. seems nice out there
