Default Military and Religion in Beaufort

Hello, We are moving to Beaufort and have a few concerns based on some things I have read in this forum:

1. The area seems largely centered around the military. We are not a military family and while we support our troops, we are wondering if there are alot of other non-military families around.

2. We are also not a religious family- we have no problem with it but wondering if we would be in a very small minority.

3. Where do you shop? Walmart is okay, but where is the closest mall for other options?

thanks for any info regarding these sometimes sensitive subjects.

Beaufort is close to Parris Island Marine Corps base, but that area has grown in population a great deal in recent years. I doubt you'll have any problem meeting non-military and non-religious people. Generally speaking, you would probably meet more like-minded people in more heavily populated areas. Is there a particular reason you picked Beaufort or would you consider another part of the coast?

Well...yes there are,you will see a lot of Marines(and some Navy) here but they don't bite.

No.

Savannah has two malls and there is outlet shopping in Bluffton.

thanks for any info regarding these sometimes sensitive subjects.
Your welcome...

Beaufort is fine if you like the water....and heat and humidity.

Tomorrow it will be almost 90 degrees here.

What are the winter months like in Beaufort, Port Royal, Bluffton areas? Considering a move from Southern Florida...due to taxes and expense. We welcome any and all comments. Weather is not an issue with air and pool access!
