I am interviewing in Hartsville in a few weeks for a job with Progressive Energy. I've researched as much as I can about the area without being there. So far so good.
I have no problems with living in a very rural area. Sitting on my porch with a laptop is far preferable to going to a bar. I do love the idea of only being a couple of hours from the ocean. I also figure any "big city" stuff like art shows and concerts can be done as day-trips. Weather-wise, the heat and humidity are far less of a problem than the cold and snow up north.
Looking at the economy, I realize the cost of living is less, which means my paycheck may well be less. However, I'm currently considered under-paid for my field. Right now, with my take-home, and the price of housing, I can't even come close to buying a house here. I'm hoping that I'd be able to in the Hartsville/Florence area.
If you've read this far - Here is my question: In general, how is the pay at Progressive Energy compared to other industries in the area?
