well like I said, that list was my opinion. That's how Greenville got to the bottom of that list. And the fact is, a lot of the outdoor things you named can be done in Charleston, Columbia, or Greenville. In fact, mountain biking, white water rafting, and hiking are really the only things I can tell that Greenville would be better for. I don't know about snow skiing, I didn't realize there were any ski resorts that close to Greenville. As far as I know, the closest one is in North Carolina, which I wouldn't consider in the "Greenville area".

Anyway, I disagree that Greenville is 'easily at the top of the list' for outdoors. Personally, I'd rather go saltwater fishing, hang out at the beach, kayak, putt around the harbor in the boat, etc. around Charleston - things that you can't do in Greenville. Additionally, Charleston nightlife blows Greenville away. It's not even in the same ballpark.

As far as kayaking, water skiing, and camping, you can do those equally in Charleston, Columbia and Greenville. But in my eyes, Columbia would still be a more fun place to live than Greenville, mainly because of Greenville's weak nightlife for people my age.

thanks anon, my sentiments exactly. the lowcountry is a sportsmans paradise--great duck hunting, fresh and saltwater fishing, camping, hikes, islands, waterways, horse trails, canoe and kayak trails. Awesome Sports teams in Charleston area makes it one of top sport cities in US, awesome real not chain restaurants, seafood, gullah creole cooking, international city, history, arts, nightlife and family attractions(our acquarium, water parks, recreation parks are awesome)

I realize that was your opinion, and I was stating mine.

I'll concede salt water fishing, night life (arguable) and restaurants. Again, it's highly dependent on what each individual finds attractive. I grew up in the Louisiana marshes south of New Orleans, therefore Charlseton fishing doesn't interest me in the least.

If you've done coastal living and are looking for a change of scenery, Greenville is a whole different culture. One that we find pretty exciting.

P.S. in regards to snow skiing, etc. I was including activites doable as day trips, not strictly in the city limits.

I re-read your post.......not understanding your intent I realized you said salt and fresh.

Anyway, I wasn't trolling for an arguement. I've got no interest in "defending" Greenville. Just wanted to point out to the poster that there were differing opinions and he/she should consider both.
