What time did you come into to town? It must have been before noon. Usually, on Sunday mornings a lot of people are at church but then it begins to pick up again in the afternoon. Especially downtown near the movie theater, it tends to get busy even on Sunday. The movies are new and it cost 2.00 to see them. ( It isn't state of the art,but to see a new movie is a deal!)
Did you actually tour the school and speak to students, staff?
I am not sure about the liquor store incident, however I am grateful that the police officers are out and about! Hartsville is a quaint town, however just like any other town big or small it can have crime.

I am a former police officer from a rather small town in northeast Pennsylvania and it was policy to always lock the car doors when you're outside the vehicle. I'd assume it's likely the same in Hartsville.
So it's not necessarily a bad sign. He was probably just following the department policy.

I have been to hartsville again and really like the neighborohoods I drove through. It seams that everyone does a good job keeping up with home repairs, landscape, ect. I was wondering if the west side of hartsville is a nice area to live in? I was looking at some houses on Green Street and Watson Street. The surounding area looked well, but wanted some honest opinons. Thanks

I am not sure where Watson Street is, but I do know where Green is. Green Street is not West Hartsville district. It is actually Carolina school district which is the only elementary school in Hartsville that made AYP.
There are some great areas that are on the West Side of Hartsville. ( Our house that is sale pending is on that side!) I am not sure of your price range, but there are great deals in Botany Woods right now, McCarthurs Run, etc. There are homes that have been on the market for a little while that I am sure are ready to be negotiated.
Have you spoke to an Hartsville agent yet? Ours is wonderful! I can send you her name if you need one.
I do want to tell you also that there is an apartment complex very very near Green Street. I would advise yo to be be very cautious about buying a home near there! There is a disturbing trend that is happening near the area.
Good luck.

What do you mean a "disturbing trend"? Also I was looking on here and it seams that the crime rate for Hartsville is HIGHER than the Us average. Is that just b/c it's a small town and the ratio is off?? I have heard several people say it is a safe town.
I will look into Botany Woods. Thanks for the tip!
PS. Our price range is 75,000-90,000.

We lived in Hartsville for two years and LOVED it! We lived off of Fox Hollow Drive and thought the area was very nice, though I can not tell you that there is an area of Hartsville that isn't nice!
