Fair enough.
But let me say this; South Carolina ranks among the WORST states in the country for drunk driving fatalities with over 1,100 every year. That number is appalling, and yet little is done.
Deadliest Drunk Driving States - AOL Money & Finance
The Blue Laws are all we have at this point, and while I may not agree with the part regarding clothing or other non-grocery items, I've never seen Wal-Mart block off any portion of their store because of it. Besides, if you really feel the need to get drunk all 7 days of the week, why not use the other 6 days to pick your poison?
If I had it my way, all drunk drivers could freely get themselves killed, but almost always it is someone else who must suffer for the stupidity of one drunk. I guess it is just the Libertarian in me that says the same regarding seat belts - if you're going to be an idiot and not wear it, then it is your own fault for getting yourself killed.
This follows the simple concept of majority rule, and the select few [drunk drivers] ruining it for the masses - a concept firmly established in 1865.
Every county has the option to overturn the Blue Laws, and the fact that about two thirds of them have chosen not to goes right back to majority rule. If you don't like it, you can move, simple as that.
On a final note, the fundamental concept of Liberalism is the sacrifice of personal liberty for the sake of equality, not necessarily the freedom of personal practice.

Honey, its Aiken County, and there are only certain places you can buy alchohol on Sundays. A special permit must be applied for for a business to do so ( at least thats my understanding of it)

You can buy toothpaste, soap, make-up, shaving cream, medicine, cleaning supplies like Comet, tp, dog food, cat litter etc.
No shoes, clothes, towels, microwaves...
And yes I have seen Wal-Mart rope off the parts of the store you can't buy from midnight Sat to 1pm Sun and after 6pm Sun to midnight in Darlington County.

Wow. There really are retarted politicians in this state. Would somebody with an education past middle school please tell me what is wrong with buying a microwave on Sunday morning? I don't even remember the last time Greenville County had blue laws. Heck, you can even buy beer or liquor now on Sunday's in the city limits.

Why should the government be able to tell me when I can and cannot purchase a microwave?

the best way i can explain the laws are this.. sc and quite a few other states have blue laws if you don't like them then maybe you should have done your research before moving to a state with blue laws..they won't change them just to please you so either get used to it or move away easy choice...If people choose to move to an area then you must go along with the local custom.....I guess thats why some people can't figure out why the locals dislike them....

Quite a few other states? LOL. Only in your dreams. I was born, raised, and still live in South Carolina thank you very much. Guess that makes me local eh? How am I supposed to move back to where I came from if i'm from here and still live here? Local custom? Greenville County hasn't had blue laws in years. Why do other parts of the state still have something that is stupid and pointless?
