Blue Laws? (Columbia, Charleston, Greenville: construction, to live in, shopping mall)

i was born here too and that was a general statement for other complainers but if you took it personal so be it but ...ak...nj..co..ct..ga..ma..mn...ms...nj...nd..pa. .ny..
vt...va..ut..and va....not to mention some parts of canada also have blue laws next time first get facts straight then pop off mouth...

Wow, sensitive topic for you I see. The best way you can explain Blue Laws are to tell me that other states have them and I should just move? That's laughable.

It's a minor annoyance to me and one that's not going to cause me to move anywhere else. I will however, continue to point out that Blue Laws are pointless and an unnecessary intrusion into my life by the government / religious groups.

There are far worse government intrusions to worry about, the Blue Laws aren't even a blip on the radar of the "Big Picture". I strongly suggest that you get with the program

PLEASE tell me why people move here WITHOUT doing their homework? Namely, doing research on local customs, mores and laws. THEN set out to complain bitterly and attempt to change what made this place attractive and unique in the first place. I am a transplant from the north and LOVE it here. I absolutely ABHOR people who move to ANY location and then quickly try to change it.

How am I supposed to do homework with regards to moving here when I was born, raised, and still live here? Blue laws are stupid and pointless. A blue law is some stupid rule a bunch of rednecks put into place because they were afraid of people going grocery shopping during church service. How in the world is going grocery shopping during church service on Sunday morning going to hurt anybody? Good thing I live in a metro area that is smarter than the rest of this backwards state.
