We are thinking of making the move to the piedmont area: landrum, travelers rest, duncan, boiling springs etc. we are not worried about housing we will be buying our house outright in the 100-150 range. but the employment/wage situation looks kind of grim..Im a self employed pc tech and my wife is a jack of all trades office supervisor..poking about it would seem that avg wages are 10-12 hr..are we looking in the wrong places??also being as we want to be in the middle of nowhere (dont mind an hour or so commute) are we looking in the right places??

Greetings Wrat,

Well, it depends on what you need. It's totaly different for everyone. Where are you living now? If you go to the bankrate web site you can do a cost of living comparison to see what you can live on. The places you mentioned living in are not far from Greenville so your not looking at a long commute.

We live in Northern California (I'm a southerner in heart I was just born in the wrong state) and will be moving to the Anderson or Pickens county in late 2007. And just like you will be able to buy a home outright.

I think you will be ok.

Mark
