Are you nuts ??? Then there is Augusta , Columbia all within half hour . What we really don't need is you because it is obvious you are not from here.
Actually, smart alec, Ive lived here since I was 6. So I guess that DOES make me from here, doesnt it? Look in the background of my profile pic. Recognize the background location? Im familiar with both Augusta and Columbia, thank you very much.
My statements were generalized. You dont exactly see heavy traffic on Whiskey past 10 pm, now do you? Or many major businesses hustling and bustling around the way they do in the daytime?
The only major places that are really open very far past 10 pm are Wal Mart, Waffle House, IHOP,and Kroger. The rest are bars.
And come on, really. Whiskey Junction is really nothing to brag about.
Ive done almost every thing there is to do in Aiken for entertainment, and it does get old after a while. You learn to entertain yourself.

Now, dont get me wrong. I like Aiken.Ive only known 1 other town, so how could I not like the one I was raised in? I like the quiet and our own little "rythm". I get sick of newcomers coming here and messing up that rythm.

But Im saying that if you want a huge variety of different ( i.e non food or booze-related) things to do, then ours is rather limited compared to somewhere like Charleston or Columbia even.

New moon cafe closes at 5-6ish. How do I know? I used to work there. Applebees BAR closes ( if I remember correctly) at about 1 am, as well as Chili's. Any longer than that and the workers get po'd.
The restaurant portion closes at about 11-ish or so.

Get off your high horse. Im not some outsider bashing Aiken. Ive lived here pretty much all my life, so I think I have a rather good grasp on how things work. K? Thanks.

I like my high horse thank you.. but please don't get me on a soapbox LOL.. And most of the big entertainment in Augusta is coming to the convocation center .Got your guitar pull tickets? But one thing i do agree with you on Aiken does need more non booze things to do, the mall cinema sucks really bad...As far a newcomers , well most are nice but some can really be nasty. Being in food service as i was too in Aiken you have seen them.
Try working at the country club ugggg...

2 years at Woodside and a year at the Green Boundary Club .Woodside was fun most of the time but GBC was torture those horse people are the most arrogant condesending aholes in the world and the stories i could tell you about the so called elite of aiken from the Woodside swingers massive coke parties (i bartended) to a certain doctor in aiken who gets hammered every day for lunch. Shoot at GBC the rich people would call the black members of the staff well it starts with a N ..and they were not allowed to do anything about it.. One of the best thngs about the service industry we are invisible to them and they talk so free...

Holy crap....

I do believe I would get fired in those arenas...but...knowing me, Id go out with a bang.... Likely in the form of cussing somebody out, or depositing their food all over their person by "accident".

What does it look like in the GBC? I pass there all the time, and have always wondered what it looks like inside, what its history is ( Ive always thought it belonged to one of the original, rich Aikenites form the Winter Colony).
It looks to have been a grand estate at one time.

It was a winter colony home .As you walk in there is a staircase to your left that goes to the hotel rooms upstairs to your right is a arch thats leads to the foyer bar or the library room. straight ahead is the small dining room.if your turn right at the foyer there is a sitting room with a piano where the rich folk sit and get hammered before dinner. straight through that room and down the steps is the trophy room . usually where lunch is served and there is a bunch of polo junk in there. in the kitchen off to the left of the dining room is a set of stairs that go up to the servents quaters on occasion staff members live up there and it is creepy as hell..down stairs is a huge safe that was used in the old days but now serves as a wine celler some of the members store their personal stashes in there and i have more than once grabbed a 500 Dollar bottle of wine. The chef that was there, greg ,was an ahole but most chefs are.The matre d is ok when he is sober but can be a mean drunk. I think he may be manager now. The old ladies still go out back and play crochet in the spring. All and all the people you deal with there on a daily basis will make you really hate the human race. They are spoiled rich folk who think they eat roses and poop poperrii...
