I am wanting to vacation in and tour the Charleston area the later part of March. Dates are March 29 thru 31. The only vacancies that I have been able to find in the Charleston area are outragously high . When searching Folly Beach, I found a listing for a surrounding hotel (Holiday Inn, I think) in Moncks Corner. Is it really a long way from DT Charleston ??? Can anyone help with this question or can make any recommendations for other places outside of Charleston that would be convenient yet affordable. Need some place for 2 people!! Thanks !!!

Yes, Moncks Corner is really far away from downtown and it is no where near Folly Beach. You do not want to stay there for a Charleston vacation, trust me. Check for places in Mount Pleasant or in the West Ashley area if you cannot afford downtown or the beach, but whatever you do, do not stay in Moncks Corner. Staying in Summerville would be another option if you just can't find anything else closer. You could take the scenic back roads past the plantations from Summerville into Charleston. At least you would have decent restaurant choices. Moncks Corner has nothing.
