Well everyone thank you soo much for all you help up til now! But unfortunatley Philadelphia airport became a nightmare for us on thursday evening. When we checked online ALL day the flights seemed to all be going out pretty much on time. When we left at 4pm everything was still looking good no problems. We got our boardng passes went up to our gate to check in and found complete and utter chaos! about 3 -4 flights before us were already cancelled and another 3 were cancelled while we waited 2 hours just to talk to an agent to find out if we could even check in yet . Right as it was our turn next it came on the board that our Charleston flight was cancelled! They said they called the tarmac to have our bags pulled and put on the"G-belt " and we should wait there. We were so determined to get to SC we were about to drive. However we waited an another hour at baggage claim to find no ones bags were coming out. The bags were gone to Charleston. But it had taken another 1/2 hour for someone to find this out and let us know. So we had to get on another 2 hour line for baggage claim ( because we couldn't go without luggage) only to find out they sent us to the wrong baggage claim line! We had to go accross the airport to the other baggage claim line. Another hour later we processed our claim and were told we'd get our bags by Sat the latest( I just got them today_Monday) luckily all intact! We then waited in another line (only 1/2 hour) to get re-issued tickets that we were told by a supervisor could be used anytime for any of the flights we had already booked , no matter he price because there was no value on these new tickets and they were for A seat on the plane! And that we could use them over the phone as well. Well, after waiting 3 hours on hold on Saturday to finally re-book the flight, I spoke with two supervisors who told me al this was not trues and we had to drive 2 hours bak to Philadelphia airport to rebook the flight! Nice HUH?? So basically we wasted an entire weekend of B.S. and money on B.S. Instead of beautiful S.C.
We are now coming down March 15th thru the 19th! Thurs an Frid in Charleston, Friday pm thru Sun am Columbia area, and Sunday to Monday Greenville area. If anyone knows of some great St Paddy's days event going on please let us know! I 've heard of the Five Point Paddy's day, but don't know much about it? P.S. CarolinaJack were definately going to try one of those seafood restaraunts you suggested ! can't wait!

Default Charleston visit

Very sorry to hear about your trip, it sounds like it was the weekend from hell.

But onto better thoughts....

If you are looking for a true native low-country meal at a family friendly price try a small restaurant called Jestine's. Great southern fare.... I love the fried chicken! Check here for address & phone #: http://charleston.diningguide.com/data/d100187.htm

It is hard to compare any St. Patrick's Day parades against Savannah & NY City but Charelston is fairly rich in its Itish heritage so try these events:

However, if you have the time to travel to Savannah, nothing tops that parade and the festivities that follows although the tradition of the NYC parade is something to experience, too.
