exactly why I won't live further north than Charlotte. You're in for a treat when you get the snow warnings (and ice) the grocery stores will be out of milk, bread, dog food (I'm not sure I understand this one) and TP. And if the weather hits....it's a mini-vacation for most who don't have to brave the roads and go to work. I hate cold weather, especially snowy weather, and after years of living in the Chicago/Kansas City areas plus visiting friends in Manitoba, I am glad we only get that kind of weather occasionally.

Check out this 10-day forecast - specifically this week! While this doesn't happen often in December and January in central SC, the fact that it occasionally happens is awesome and will make those -5 degree days a distant memory when you have mid-70s in the 3rd week of December!

STOP TEASING US!
I'm sitting with a wind chill of about 20 below, and another 3-5" of snow tomorrow. I saw ( i have Columbia temps on my desktop ) it was 70; i nearly fell outta my chair. And people wonder why some folks from the midwest/northern states wanna head south... as for us, we'll be transplants sometime in Feb; can't wait.

I have to say, we had our windows open in the house the other day! That's just weird for me to think that you can have your windows open & your Christmas tree up at the same time! He he. It's supposed to be pretty nice here all week. But I sure miss the snow!! I love those pics of the snow!

About boots... there is NO reason to wear boots here, but everyone wears them anyway! All of my students wear snow boots (the fashionable ones with the fur & stuff)... sometimes with shorts, sometimes with jeans, sometimes with capri's.... no need for boots, but they still love them!

Shoot, I turned the air conditioner back on last evening....had the windows open then it started raining in and got really hot and stuffy. Turned on the A/C for about 15 minutes to cool the apt and then the fans, once it got comfy, turned it off. I'm in Charlotte and remember when I moved here 6 years ago we got hit with 3 bad ice storms in Dec, Jan and Feb, the last one brought 17 inches of snow to south CLT. I almost packed up and left!!!

I had to chime in. It is funny how the grass is always greener (or the snow is always whiter). I am from SC, and live in the upstate. I am completely jealous of you guys up north getting all that snow! What i wouldn't give for some of what your pictures show. We used to get a little more snow, but not anymore. I can't describe how frustrating it is to see, literally, the whole rest of the country (even new orleans) getting snow and we are supposed to be 70 on thurs and friday.
