Some of the roads I travel are an embarrassment due to all of the litter.

wow, i wish ours was a dime. we only get a nicle.

We do that so the homeless can pick them up and earn a little beer money.

And here I thought it was in order to give the prison population some exercise.

The problem is, is that the majority of the litter is not just cans and bottles (which you don't get any money for anyways), it's tons of other trash that people are too lazy to pick up.

Yep, I think Bojangles litter is the most common on the roads I travel. Yesterday morning on 20 near Lexington, I noticed 3 bags of household trash on the side of the road. 2 in tact, and one scattered all over. Today I noticed that someone dumped their old pots and pans on the side of the road near my house. I guess they got new stuff for Christmas and didn't have time to properly dispose of the old stuff. I joke about the prisoners and such picking it up, but there really is no excuse for throwing your garbage on the side of the road. Why is it so difficult to find a trash can?

sounds like people are just too lazy to dispose of things in their own trash at home. is there a litter law inforce down there ? if not then there should be.

There are litter laws, but they are not enforced.

i know they are up here because i've seen people getting pulled over after throwing something out the window. there are signs posted everywhere around here. i guess those people never saw the commercial on tv of the indian on the side of the road with a tear coming down his cheak because someone threw trash out the window in front of him.
