after many months and job seeking in various states it is official that we are moving to the Myrtle Beach area. Will be working in Little River and am looking for a rental house using the internet as my only resource. Does anyone know of a specific area I should definitely avoid? Or are most areas pretty nice and safe? Thanks!

I just moved to Conway, which right outside Myrtle Beach, Little River is NE of where I live but I've been to that area. From what I hear Little River & N. Myrtle Beach are nicer then Myrtle Beach. The other thing to consider is the farther you you go into Myrtle Beach the more traffic there is and when spring/summer rolls around I'm sure it's very crowded. If you don't mind something a little more rural (look at a map) my friends moved to Longs, which is not far from there and really like it. Again, I'm going by what I hear but stay outside Myrtle Beach (with the exception of N. MB).
Finding a rental; internet, realtors, Sun News and Chamber of Commerce. If you noticed, most people on the SC board are living or moving to other parts of the state so that might be why you didn't get that many responses. Good luck, it's really nice here and I'm very happy about my move from NJ to SC but be aware it is different so you will have to make some adjustments. |

was only half joking w/my sarcasm. But truthfully I dont know the area and coming to there from here-a place that has more seedy areas than nice ones; well I was anxious. I have found only one rental in Longs but they decided to sell instead of rent. I did find one in Little River; the sq ft seems a tad small but it's nearby where the job is. Just got an email w/pictures from a nice lady who say the house is in Carolina Forest-Avalon. That is foreign language to me. I can't seem to find a house with trees and a fenced yard. I know they have trees in SC!!
I'm moving second week in April and that time is nearing!!! I still have to check on utilities,cable,etc........my things to do list grows daily. |

I feel your pain...........I have been back 7 forth between the SC & GA forums.....looking at Murrells Inlet SC, St Marys GA North Myrtle BCh..we are looking to reire early and leave NJ...taxes, services are out of control coupled with to many crooked politicians...
I want a house as condos have to many rules & regulations... I've seen some house advertised with ' restrictive covenants" since that is not part of real estate lingo here I'm trying to find out exactly what that means...sounds lkie more rules & regulationa |

Atlantic Beach 10th AVE N through 21st AVE N (MB) Dunbar (Crack Alley) Carver St Greens Blvd Cherokee St Canal St Flagg St (Improving) HWY 15 (Not Horrid, but don't cruise the the TP) Places that are GREAT: Carolina Forest Barefoot Area Little River Cherry Grove Surfside Pawleys Island ---Myrtle beach City--- 29th N to 82nd N Anything NW of Waterway 10th N to 30th S can be great or terrifying depending on the particular block. You just have to know the area and be safe after dark. |

Carolina Forest-Avalon is just south of Little River. Little River is all country.Plenty of trees and lawns. There is a growing number of developments in the area.Along will golf courses. It's a beautiful area. Carolina Forest is a large development of homes. Many settled. Some still building. It's actually in or near Conway. Conway is about 10 miles from Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach NORTH( different city) is just a few miles from little River. Plenty of resturants, shopping, including a WalMart Supercenter. Where will you be working? |

The last time i was in Myrtle Beach( my goal is to move to little River, within the next year) I met a lady who had moved from New Jersey to Carolina Forest In Conway about 10 miles from Myrtle Beach. She sold her home in NJ for $350,000 and bought a better home for $200,000. the Carolina homes do not have basements as the water level is too high. I met a man who had moved from Laurel Md.( south of balto,Md0 He moved to Murrells inlet for the golf. he has been there almost two years. There are plenty of homes and condos being built in that area. It is south of Myrtle Beach. Yet, north of George town. You DO NOT want to go anywhere near the beaches in Myrtle Beach during the height of summer. If you are in the area, use 17 bypass to get around.
