Depends on what you want/what you're looking for. If employment is important, then I'd say live closer to Charlotte--no question. If vintage housing and/or horse racing is important to you, then Camden is your choice, without question. Camden is absolutely, positively gorgeous. It does have some lovely areas, but oh, they can be pricey. Still there is affordable housing there as well, but again it all depends on what you're looking for.
Good luck!

There is such a huge difference between Charlotte, NC and Kershaw County, SC. Kershaw County is pretty much all country. There are some decent restaurants & shopping in Camden and it is only about 20 minutes from Columbia. You can buy a house much cheaper in SC then you can in NC. As far as jobs, there are jobs in Camden & Columbia isn't far. I would pick Camden over Charlotte, but thats a matter of preference.
What is it you're looking for? If we know what you really are looking for we could help you out some more.

I have to agree with the others, you haven't given anyone enough information to help you.
Where are you relocating from? This would be helpful if you want to live in an area similar. You showed interest in the schools. What age? Elementary, High School? Do you already have a job lined up and if so where is it? What kind of home do you prefer; apartment, house, lots of land, land not important.?.?
Charlotte area is a lot more populated and expensive to live than Kershaw County area. But you also have Rock Hill, SC that is very close to Charlotte. Camden is beautiful but can also be pricey depending on your wants as far as a home.
Personally, I prefer the Lugoff or Elgin area. They are both close to Camden and Columbia but without the price tag on housing. Plus we were able to purchase more land than we would have been able to in Camden. And of course Kershaw County, SC taxes are cheaper than Charlotte, NC.
Give us more to work with and we will be glad to assist. Good luck with your move.

There are Southern Baptist churches on every corner, literally. Kershaw 2nd Baptist might be a good place to start.

I think maybe they're referring to the town of Kershaw?
