faithchick is on a distinguished road
I have lived here in Cheraw for 4 1/2 yrs and am desparately wanting to move down to Florence... or somewhere with something else to do besides go to walmart. My major problem with our "super wal-mart" is that IT CLOSES AT 11PM! Old Walmart closed at 10 so they built the super walmart and that stay's open til 11. Didn't make any sense at all to me...

I find that Cheraw is very very boring with nothing at all to do for younger people or those with families ( i have two boys 10 & 5). Real estate stays on the market for quite a long time, there are no jobs here so definitely would be commuting somewhere if you want to find work.

Now here is my disclaimer... I am acknowledging that I moved here from NYC where I was born and raised and every place will seem pretty boring and small to ME. However, I have lived many places outside NYC and Cheraw didn't rate at the bottom of our list of places we have lived but it is second to the bottom. so bored i am going a bit stir crazy as i am home with the kids all day and really nothing much too do.

Now Cheraw is by far the nicest town in the area in my opinion and probably the largest directly here... neighboring towns are much smaller and don't even have a walmart to shop at or anything, which of course is why we live here. But now we are looking at moving hopefully soon before the new school yr starts and my husband will commute to work in Bennettsville... an hour each way and says he will do it happily to live somewhere with something to do. So I guess maybe it all comes down to what you like to do, and what you are used to... for us we don't play golf, we don't play sports, or anything like that, not very outdoorsy.. fishing hunting boating nothing like that... so for US nothing to do.

What kind of things are you looking to do in Cheraw? I guess I am trying to figure out what Cheraw could offer that you'd be interested in. Through work, I know some ladies that work for the tourism department and they are always looking for new things to offer to residents and visitors.
