Default is a generator necessary?

here on the gulf coast it is essential to have a generator. I am moving to Myrtle Beach in 2-3 weeks and was thinking to sell my almost new generator. Thought I would check beforehand with you guys and see if it's common to have one on hand there.
Thanks!!

Don't sell it. Definitely keep it. A generator is a must for anyone living near the coast, especially the east coast. You don't want to end up in the long lines waiting at Lowes for the truckload of generators to arrive when a hurricane is on the way. You will thank yourself later, trust me. Been there, done that.

You could not pry my generator away from me. They work for wind, ice, whatever reason the power might happen to be out.
