Default Schools in SC -

We just moved from NJ (Bergen County) to SC (Carolina Forest), my son is in lst. grade. Lots of people always think the schools up North are so much better and you get a better education.

Thats not always true!

The school my son started this Monday is so further ahead of where he was at his school in NJ, on the math & reading level.

It varies by area but I have heard the Horry County schools are very good. They have continually doem well in the Palmetto ratings.

I like the post also!! I am planning on relocating to the Greenville area this summer and I have compared to the schools here in Florida. And well..... I am noticing the same thing looking at the majority of the schools in the area and comparing the curriculum between the two states both of mine 6 and 8 are behind, They both will be tutored this summer in reading and math to play catch up before we get there!!!!!!!

i wouldn't say that schools in sc are better than in fla, in fact, overall i believe sc is ranked 49th out of the 50 states. fla is like 39th i believe. every state (and city) has good and bad school systems.

Where are people getting these national rankings of states!! The latest information I have found was for 2005 and SC was 36th nationally and Florida was 47th. I do believe it goes by the area in which you are in! I am in southwest Florida and I thought my kids were getting ahead, but not in comparison to the upstate area of SC. I also looked up Maryland and SC is behind them. I am a firm believer in the child will get what they put into it and how much the parents are involved, there is good and bad all over!!!

Oh yeah, I am sure the lovely Bush brothers didn't have anything to do with the rise in education either! Got to love the Bush's!!
