Have you looked at Roswell/Alpharetta Ga area! It is Great, A Small Perfect Southern town Right next to Atlanta. Greenville is a nice town, but if you are looking for the amenities of a city, you will find yourself driving to Atlanta or Charlotte often. We have to drive to Atlanta to get Haircuts. Luckily it is only a couple of hours, and we make a weekend of it a lot. Greenville is a great town, but much more Small town thinking. So shopping and dining choices are limited to basics. Your wife sounds like mine,Loves the arts... She Said that I moved her to "the Third ring of hell" well, at least that is what she calls it when she is in a good mood. Not much in the way of Culture. Again lot's of trips to Atlanta. We are in the Process of moving"Happy wife,Happy Life!" So a move here was expensive,to say the least. Best of luck!

^^Ignore him. We have lots of arts like Art Crossing: RiverPlace, Greenville SC - Playing at RiverPlace: The Fountain, High Cotton Restaurant, The Lazy Goat Restaurant, Hampton Inn Just wait until Magnolia Park opens then you'll change your tune about lack of retail/dining. We have Haywood Mall which is the largest mall in the state. Greenville County gained more people last year than any other in South Carolina. If it's as terrible as your wife claims it to be then why are people moving here? And why did somebody update a thread that hasn't had any posts in almost a year?

Roswell and Alpharetta are anything but "small perfect Southern towns." They are nothing more than sprawling exurbs of Atlanta that were once truly small towns.
