If I input the zip code (28277) for the South Charlotte area of Ballantyne (one of the wealthiest places in Meck. county ) it too has a crime rate of 7. I am not promoting Lancaster, SC...nor do I care to live in Lancaster...but I hardly think that the Del Webb Company would build in an area that they felt was that bad (it anything...everyone of these Del Webb locations have only enhanced the areas that they surround....which is what we are beginning to see in this area too).
Wealthy areas don't mean less crime. If I want to steal a nice car, I don't go to the hood

I do understand what your saying. It's a starting point. But, the area where I live, its accurate though

My 13 year old daughter would start wheezing when she had to run outside for gym class. As soon as we moved back to the Midwest, the coughing and wheezing stopped. It's too bad, too, because other than the pollution and everything is a bit sprawled out requiring a lot of driving, it really was not a bad place to live.
I went there couldn't find Fort Mill, SC

Fort Mill is way too close to Charlotte. Charlotte has some dirty air. I can remember driving down to Charlotte from Concord NC, and soon as the downtown skyline would appear, it was a hazy color. I was stunned.

I live in Fort Mill, the air does not bother me, but if someone is sensitive to polluted air, it may be wise to move further south than Fort Mill, not that we are anywhere near as bad as Charlotte we still have our dirty air warning days.

Hope this helps.
