IMO, Dillon needs people who are willing to change the status quo just a bit. The downtown area could be a fabulous shopping area with small boutiques and cafes. My SIL is very happy to drive to Florence for all of her shopping and doctor appointments instead of working to bring quality merchandise locally. At some point, though, she will find it difficult to make those trips due to age. The people who work to keep a church, pharmacy, and car parts place on every corner should be working to make Dillon into the wonderful little town that it could be. All of those people who travel to MB would probably like to have a place to stop on the way for good food and specialty shopping. When I have spoken to young professionals in Dillon, they always say those are the things that they want; however, they don't work towards it.

I VERY much agree with SXMGirl. Dillon has so much potential for growth, but nobody wants to do anything. There is just alot of wasted space, and it's been this way for years. There could be alot of buildings erected but they would rather see the land undeveloped than to make progress.

This place is years behind most other places in the U.S. and they are just now getting things (VERY Slowly and few) that other cities around the globe had years ago.

Dillon really could be a nice place if they stepped up their game. As a matter of fact, it already IS a decent place compared to the smaller surrounding towns, but it needs alot more. It is just ruled by that "Old Boy" mentality that resists change and progress.

There is a new internet Cafe on 228 East Main street called "Monty's" . It's a breath of fresh air from all the public Library restrictions...
