I never go to malls. I haven't been to one in years. I hear Columbia Place has a problem, but I can't say objectively because I have no first-hand experience.

But why is it that the topics of so many forums might as well say "LET"S ARGUE ABOUT WHICH CITY IS BETTER."?

I think the worst mall in the state is the Galleria in Rock Hill. Hello, it's got Wal-Mart as an anchor!

Something seems wrong with the poll selections. With 180 total thread views and only eleven votes so far, Haywood Mall has 4 votes and nobody has offered a single reason as to why it should be considered the "worst" mall in the state. As I stated earlier, based on several important facts, Haywood Mall is a strong competitor for "best" mall in the state. I was surprised to see even one vote for the mall, but with the addition of three votes from unknown sources, justice is demanded. Can we at least have a reasonable explanation for the votes?

Well the topic of discussion was with regards to crime and unsupervised teenagers, not shopping options, so maybe that has something to do with it.

for what it's worth, the Mall of America in MN ( largest mall in the US ) had to crack down on teens due to the problems brought in. So curfews were put in place. While some of the youth may have complained, the mall maintained a good crowd. In fact, was even nicer for the families to want to spend time ( and their $$ ) in the mall when they didn't have to worry about the kids and the issues that were starting to appear.
Of course teens should have the chance to shop and walk around just like an adult does, but the malls aren't really built as a place to loiter and cause trouble ( sorry, don't intend to lump all teens together on this ).
So if there are malls or areas that have too much trouble due to the youth and it affects the business there, then certain decisions have to be made.

And still, Haywood does not deserve to be a leader in this poll. Yet, still no reasons for the votes.

It's probably the Columbia forum members being jealous.

Not me, I love Greenville! I was just pointing that out because much of the discussion throughout this thread was about what stores were offered in one location versus those of another.

I have relatives living in metro Atlanta (near Six Flags, in fact) who actually drive the the two-plus hours up to Greenville just to shop at Haywood Mall because they like it so much. I doubt they would even think about doing this if Haywood was the worst mall in the state. If a mall in South Carolina is able to attract shoppers from a very large city in another state, it definitely has something great to offer. The title of the thread indicates that the poll options are designating "the worst mall in South Carolina." If the OP was not intending to convey that message, then the title should have been more carefully written. Haywood Mall is easily one of the BEST malls in South Carolina.
Tinabean actually named the mall which first came to my mind after reading the title and initial post. Greenwood Mall has been declining for several years and is all but dead.
