The worst mall in South Carolina
In Gaorgia it seems that there are constant crime in their malls. Augusta Mall recently had a domestic dispute that resulted in the husband running over his wife and 3 of her friends. Fortunately they all survived. In Macon there was a massive brawl in the food court resulting in the mall closing early two years ago. Fights happen there on a regular basis. Basically do NOT go there on a friday or saturday unless the hood is your cup of tea. In Savannah there have been a fight or to at their malls. Columbus has problems with large groups of teenagers making shoppers feel intimidated. Atlanta had two people shot and murdered at the newly built Atlantic Station and Lennox Mall has had some robberies. It seems like crime is overtaking these shopping areas. How are the malls in South Carolina? Is crime and unruly teenagers taking over these malls as well. I love the Augusta Mall, Columbiana Center and Haywood Malls and I am hoping these malls continue to be vibrant shopping area for years to come.

I am not sure how anyone could say that Haywood Mall is the worst mall in South Carolina. If anything, Haywood Mall is a strong competitor for best mall in the state. I do think it is difficult for most people to compare since it is very unlikely that many people have visited most of the malls in the state.

I agree. Haywood Mall is the largest in the state, and even at that the vacancy rate is extremely low. The quality of the stores continues to increase (Coach, Williams Sonoma, etc.) with more good ones on the way (Apple). The interior was recently upgraded. Which other malls in the state can compete with that?

I don't know but the Greenwood SC mall has to be the absolute worst. Even the Dollar Tree store went out of business. It is being taking over by a call center operation, SYKES. It doesn't even qualify as a mall, really...just sad, pitiful and dirty. Gosh, if we could just get a TARGET in this town I'd feel like I was on 5th ave in NYC!!!! Seriously, even a Marshalls or TJ MAXX would be a MAJOR improvement over what is available at our pitiful excuse for a mall.

Columbiana Center is just as good as Haywood. Haywood, Columbiana Center, and the Augusta Mall are very similar to each other. They all have the same stores and there are some stores in one mall thet the other does not have. Columbia has stores that Greenville does not have and vise versa. But the Columbiana Center can easily compete with and give the Haywood Mall a run for its money.

I think many would argue that shopping is better in Greenville relative to Columbia, but that's not my cup of tea. For comparison purposes, Haywood Mall has 113 stores, and Columbiana has 76.

The official Haywood Mall website says it has more than 150 specialty stores, plus the 5 anchor department stores. The official Columbiana Centre website says it has more than 110 specialty stores. Not sure if that includes its 4 anchor department stores or not.

Just out of curiosity..how did you select these malls? I agree with one of the posters that many people may not have been to them all so it may be difficult.. a couple that may need to be on the list...
Sumter Mall, Prince of Orange Mall, Florence Mall and Dutch Square. I will admit that I do not if Price of Orange still exists... Dutch Square is still reinventing itself... Sumter Mall, will certainly get mixed reviews....Florence Mall has been redone and has done a total 180 from what it was several years ago.

Sumter Mall has a curfew of 8pm, so that helps. They've also got a built-in Police station, so that also helps. But they would certainly be in the running...
I think Sandhills also instituted a curfew recently.
I was at Dutch Square a couple weekends ago and it didn't seem bad, as far as potential crime/intimidation factor was concerned.
It's been 3 or 4 years since I've been in the Florence Mall, but I'd also put that up in the top running.

Haywood also a good number of better / trendy stores not found in Columbiana or even the Columbia market, like: Aldo, Pottery Barn, Aveda, Guess, Brookstone, J.Crew, Bare Escentuals, Ann Taylor, etc.....soon to be Apple.
