Kayaking in Hilton Head (Port Royal: areas, island, places)

Hey all, I will be visiting the Hilton Head area the first week of September. We are wanting to do some River kayaking. In my search the only things im coming up with is guided tour trips. We have our own kayaks and want to go our own way.

So can any of the locals help us out with some cool places to paddle.

Launch at either the boat ramp between the two bridges as you come onto Hilton Head (right across 278 from Pinckney Island) or at the boat ramp next to Palmetto Bay Marina. Broad Creek, Skull Creek, and Mackay's Creek are perfect areas for kayaking. Calmer waters and while there is plenty of boat traffic, you will not have a problem staying near the shoreline.

If you have the stamina and weather cooperates, the circle around Pinckney Island is nice and gives you the full route through Mackays Creek, views of Port Royal Sound, and Skull Creek. I think it is about 12 miles.
