Hi to anyone still checking this thread. Here's my question. My family is moving to the Camden area at the end of July. We're coming from Michigan (the Great LAKE State) and indeed, during the summer we are at the lake several times a week. What lakes are near the Camden area? In my own research I have found Lake Wateree. Is that an all-sports lake? Are there public beaches/swimming areas? Do you have to pay daily rates?
Any other lakes in the areas surrounding Camden? Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi Kat2K
I saw your post about being a native of the SC area and was wondering if you could tell us about Camden, SC? My husband and I may be relocating there from North Florida. We are semi-retired and have no children, so schools and jobs aren't that important. We love the outdoors and culture. Anything you can tell us would be greatly appreciated.

relocating with a dart
greetings, my girlfriend and I are looking to relocate, and we certainly are not picky about our destination. I can tell you some of the features that we are interested and if any cities pop out as some that you think would fit that would be awesome. We both work in the service industry (restaurants, bars, nightclubs), we are looking for a city that is relativly clean looking, (doesn't have a dingy dirty feel to it) a place that is near water, (lake or ocean doesn't matter) realitivly affordable housing options, and looking for a place that is starting to grow, or is growing in economy and population. (we are interested in fixing, and flipping houses in the next couple of years...
If anyone has a city that fits this profile in either NC, SC, or GA let me know...thanks a bunch

Myrtle Beach quickly came to mind based on your description. A booming service/tourism economy with the Hard Rock Theme Park scheduled to open next year and located near the ocean. You may have to look in the Socastee or Conway areas for affordable housing, however. Although many new homes are being constructed in the Myrtle Beach/Grand Strand area, there are older homes to be fixed up.
The Trademark Properties show "Flip This House" flipped a house in Myrtle Beach during one of their episodes.

Hi! My husband and I are thinking of relocating to the Up-Country from South Florida. I have been researching the Pickens, Liberty,Blacksburg and Pendelton areas also McCormick...a few questions...1)What kinds of shopping malls are there?, 2) Is it hard to find employment?, 3) Out of all of the cities listed, which would you recommend?, 4) Is this a "Dry" county? 5) How are the winters there...snow?, 6) Do you have fire-flies? (We don't have them in Florida and I miss them from my childhood growing up in NY!) Any information that you could possibly offer would be most appreciated! Thanks so much!

I would to know the real truth about SC--the upstate specifically. I've had so many people tell me very different stories. What about the crime in the upstate? We're thinking Easley, Pickens, Anderson, etc. areas. Now, I understand crime is everywhere, but what is the real truth is it a bit more or what?

Yes, we do have fireflies in the area. Mild winters with a light snow sometimes. Every once in a while we'll have 3 or 4 inches and the schools close, etc. The only time that you can't buy alchohal is on Sundays. I live in Easley and love it. We're 15 minutes to Haywood Mall in Greenville and Easley is in the process of getting one.

We have this REALLY big lake in the eastern part of the state. It is called the Atlantic Ocean and puts the "Great" Lakes to shame. Check it out.

Ha ha. Looking for something closer than 3 hours away. We'll be more near the Columbia area, so would like a lake within about 20-30 mins if possible.
