Hi, I'm not all that familiar with Summerville and haven't visited lately. I'm really sorry I can't help you on this! Maybe someone else can.

Possible Move to Lexington/Columbia Area
Can anyone help me out. I am a Colorado native and am looking to relocate my family to SC. My wife and I have looked at several different areas and have narrowed down to Summerville area, and then Lexington/Columbia area. Can anyone give us some pro's and con's of the areas. We are interested in great schools (we have a 3 year old and 4 month old), and obviously want an area that would be kid friendly and in genereal a bit safer than not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, if anyone has a question about any of the cities in South Carolina, feel free to ask me and I'll try my best to answer.

I have a general question about Myrtle beach- havent been yet- but some have mentioned its overcrowded, etc.
Also- I have visited Greeneville and Spartanburg- but if I were to consider the eastern part- what type of jobs are available? I have heard nice things about Charleston, but is that also primarily retirement/tourist?
thanks for any info-
sunny

Think I got lost in the shuffle...

My hubby and I will be doing a relocation visit the middle of May. We have two daughters - 15 & 11. We are looking to get information on as many different towns as we can. We currently live in a rural area on the Eastern Shore of MD. We want to purchase a country home on at least 5 acres - would like to be able to raise beef cows. Good schools are a must! I'm a RN and he's a Road Service Tech for an Ag company. Obviously must be able to find jobs in healthcare and Ag related industries. Would like to be rural, but within an hours drive of major shopping, etc. Would also like to be within a 2-3 hour drive of the coast.
I know it's a tall order, but any suggestions or help would be most appreciated! Thanks so much!

I re-posted my questions because I think I got overlooked and lost in the shuffle. Thanks again!

I currently live in Latrobe, PA, so I know just where you are coming from. Having lived in SC a few years ago, I can tell you this in all honesty:
If you are willing to do a little outreach, ask questions, be willing to adjust from the Western PA way of thinking, you will be fine in Colombia. Just remember one key fact: You will not be in Western PA anymore! Leave rendell and the rest of it in PA, and go for it. I recommend getting your local paper shop at the "Mom & Pop" stores, stuf like that if you want to get to know folks...and don' freak out...it will get better...and at leadt TRY grits so you can give an honest view, don't be like my mother-in-law who won't try anything she didn't get from her mom's cooking lessons. :-)
HAVE FUN! You are moving to God's country! (And yes, there are Catholic churches down in SC too...they are growing down in SC!)

Col umbia is how the SC city is spelled, as opposed to the South American nation of Col ombia. Here in the Greenville metro, we are blessed to have a very large Colombian population. They provide an awesome annual outdoor festival downtown as well.

Personally, If I were going to move there, I'd move to the southwest part of town. "A little more rural look". But all of the amenities are still quite convenient.
Sorry... not my board, or topic, but I frequent Summerville, '3-4' times a week, with my job.

Best place to buy vacation property?
We are looking at buying some vacation property, but not sure which state is best--north carolina or south carolina. I mean in terms of re-sale value, beauty, proximity to water, etc.

Hi, for over age 50 communities, is north myrtle beach better and cheaper the myrtle beach? Any input on difference between north myrtle beach and myrtle beach would be appreciated.
Thank you
