The customer is the one who is driving Boeing to locate one of its production lines to the lowcountry - this move is not driven by either the company or the union. It's the workings of a freemarket system and is nothing new.

It doesn't help that the goals of industry and unions are polar oppostites. When you have union workers who are who are more proud of being in a union than being employees of the company, the customer loses...and the customer dictates the terms and conditions for its purchases.

I've never figured out why someone has to pay dues in order to get a labor contract, even more perplexing is a non-union member having to pay these same dues....

For those thinking we'll see anything close to Puget Sound 'union' equivalent wages and benefits in the lowcountry anytime soon for the majority of positions, you are going to be very, very disappointed.

I also posted this on the Charleston forum...

National defense, disaster relief, police and fire, roadways you drive on to get to work and use for pleasure, air traffic control (again for business and pleasure)...

Just a few of the examples of "something in return" for your taxes.

No offense but based on your postings over the past few months, you are truly blind to what a market economy actually is and how it works. Maybe consider moving to a socialistic country? You will have less but everything will be provided to you...

The employees didn't form a union because they did not feel they were being treated unfairly.

If they all felt as if they were being treated unfairly, as you stated, then they would have been motivated to form a union. As it is the employees legal right to form a union and it is illegal for firms to not allow a union to be formed, then there would be a union, would there not be?

How many unions have you formed? Or started to form?

Well, I am just happy Boeing is coming down to South Carolina.
We will take those jobs. We need them.
The United States doesn't manufacture hardly anything anymore.
And don't come here preaching about unions.
When is the last time you bought some cheap plastic chineese crap at a store?
Did you care where it was made? Did you care about weather or not the worker was a member of a union? Did you say to yourself "oh no, I can't buy those Levis jeans, the Mexicans who made them aren't union members. They are taken advange of by the greedy corporations".
Boeing, come on down!
