Default South Carolina 8th Happiest State

Hey all you South Carolinians.....did you know we were the 8th happiest state? See this list.

Happiest U.S. States Pinned Down | LiveScience

What do you think? Do you agree? I'm certainly extremely happy in Greenville, but statewide, I've met some unhappy people (the I-95 corridor for example). This list really means nothing, but fun to look at anyway. The funniest thing on the list is at the bottom....several Northeastern states are listed as the unhappiest, with New York being dead last.

What do you think?

Happy about what?

Having the 3rd worst unemployment in the US at 12.3%!

OR

What used to be Greenville's middle class now turned poor due to lack of jobs and standing in line at area free food pantry's!

http://buzz.yahoo.com/article/1:495896a073655bd65d533a9e396ff1f9:5b51ad3363c6cea 23384326c4e311ea8/Former-donators-now-in-line-for-food

Yeah the future is definitely looking bright in SC....that is definitely worth celebrating, somebody pop the champagne and turn on the music. Guess when SC moves up to 13% unemployment at the beginning of 2010 you all can really celebrate.

That is strange considering that a REAL travel magazine just voted NYC Worlds Best City! Now I will admit that I hear some complaints from fellow New Yorkers about the high cost of living and crowded city......but that is where the discussion ends! There is no city I would rather be in.......that is why I and over 8 million other SUPPOSEDLY UNHAPPY people live here in NYC and not SC.

I'm glad you're happy in NY. I want everyone to stay in the place that makes them happy. You're obviously no fan of SC, so why beat your head against a wall and keep your house in Greenville? You tried it, didn't like it; so move on.

well, the way I see it, SC is rated higher then WI where we came from. And as this is our first full winter here, and I'm not shoveling feet of snow and dealing with sub zero temps for the first time........ that is one damn big smile on my face!

My partner and I moved here after living in much larger places. We LOVE it!!!!!! Quality of life is through the roof!!!
Obviously a place that leaves an impression on people as so many people who do move away can't resist coming back to post about SC. People just can't seem to let SC go.

Seems interesting to me that most of the happy states are Red States with predominately conservative voters while most of the least happy states are Blue States. I've seen other polls, which are all open to skewing, that say religious people are the happiest. Seems to coincide with this poll as those happy states lean toward the Bible Belt. And while weather may play a role, Alaska, Maine, South Dakota and Wyoming are not known for their warm sunny winters. Just an observation.
