Thank you all for your comments.
Sounds like we would like the SC life style very much. We have decided to go forward and make a trip to Aiken and McCormick, they seem to be very nice places to live, can anyone suggest some places to stay while in the area? Thanks, Sam |

Bayhill If SC is for you, I would strongly suggest that you check out Greenville. It has a great little downtown with a river running through it. I am sure you would be impressed with the town. Do yoursef a favor and look into Greenville. By the way that's SC not G'ville NC. We had a friend fly to Raleigh, rent a car and drive to G'ville NC to check into her hotel she had previously booked. Drove all over town looking for her hotel. Finally gave up and called the hotel. Wrong state. Long day (and night).
I wish you well |

You see guys its these kind of comments that I worry about.
This is not called for. Up north we would not have said that we had enough "SOUTHERNS" in the north! I wonder what Paula Dean would say about this comment? We are all "Americans" and should learn to live together no matter what our original state. Hellow, it also has something to do with economics. Some Southerners may not like our Northern sound but we do bring money and thus jobs!!! |

Bayhill I don't think you have much to worry about. If you have any concerns though I would say research places in SC you may be interested in as much as you can and then take a visit. You should be fine and welcome to SC!
If horses are your interest I'd say check out either Aiken (a lot of half backs seem to be relocating there), or Camden. Im a native Jersey boy, although I grew up in SC. |

We moved from NJ to SC and it hasn't been an issue. Everyone has been really friendly, weather is great and I haven't heard one person say anything negative about people from the north. I think people worry too much but and as said on City Data many times before...don't move somewhere and try to change it. Just move with a good attitude and an open mind and you will be ok!

bayhill's experience in SC is entirely up to him/her. If s/he brings an attitude s/he can expect one in return. If s/he is respectful of local customs then most locals will live and let live.
