Default Monck's Corner in 10 words or less!!

Hey everyone,
In our quest to find a small town near Summerville (in case our plans to move to Greenville fail), I was wondering if anyone could give me a good idea of what Monck's Corner is like. The crime stats look pretty high. Is this accurate? Does it have the "Mayberry" small town feel to it? Are there any affordable older nice southern homes for sale there? And any other info would be very helpful.
Thanks!

I went to Monck's Corner a few weeks ago - ummm, I won't be going back.

Aiken has a nice small town feel to it. Very pretty, horsey, a lot of character. Near Augusta.

Moncks Corner has come along way in recent years, but it still has a ways to go. It is a very popular fishing city, with the Tail Race Canal and "Short Stay" ( which are the locks operated by Santee Cooper power plant, which lowers and raises the lakes water level. For the most part it is still very rural, I think they have 3 grocery stores, and a run down wal-mart, and 2 car dealerships (Dodge & Suzuki). It is only 13 miles from Goose Creek, and about 25 miles from Charleston, or 15 miles from Summerville. Good luck with your research. jrmayfield6
