Default Hilton Head and snowbirds?

Just curious how bad the traffic is when the snowbirds are here.. I was also wondering if someone knew Naples, Fl and could compare it to HH..

What is the traffic like in HH? Is it much worse in the winter?

"Snowbird" is a funny little euphemism.

It's sort of cold on HHI in winter. You can still play golf, but not every day. Therefore, based on that, I'd say the traffic might be a tad better in winter than Naples. As I live nearby and avoid going there at all costs, that's the best I can do for you.

Traffic at HHI stays roughly the same all year round, minus when the PGA tour comes to town. I either get out(school spring break is then) Or don't drive during that week. It usually ends up with the most traffic being evening friday/saturday then from 10-11 on sunday when you have to check out of hotels are the worst weekly ones.

They recently increased the mainland half of the route to hilton head, from 2 lanes to three, It helps congestion going off island, but sometimes make going on island worse seeing as the bridge is only 2 lanes. The most dangerous light going on island to look out for would be the light that is near a lowes, chick-fil-a's and chili's and some bank. People turning left from there Always run the red.

I lived in Hilton Head for a summer and there are not any working class neighborhoods on the island - you would have to go to the mainland in the town of Blufton of even Hardeeville to find working class real estate prices. Hilton Head is very nice and actually reminds me of Naples in that its a very wealthy town with alot of deed restricted areas - when you drive around everything looks perfect...it can get a bit monotonous; luckily Savannah and Charleston are both easy drives for some diversity. During winter months Hilton Head is so quiet - its the exact opposite of Naples where there are tons of snowbirds. People vacation in Hilton Head during the summer and alot of tourists are from Ohio. During the summer Hilton Head gets very busy and you can expect some delays - especially around the round-a-bouts (there are two on the Island).

Are you implying that they are one in the same?
