We had our hearts set on being relocated to the Greenville area, but just found out that that will not happen. The position is going to be in Summerville. We went down there and checked it out but we were overwhelmed by how big it is and is continuing to get. Can someone recommend a smaller town near there that is like G'ville (small, conservative, where everyone knows your name, type of place)? We have been trying to get info on Moncks corner online, but there doesn't seem to be much info.
I would really appreciate any help! We are heart broken to not be in Greenville. TIA

Charliegirl, Summerville is not very big, it is much smaller than Greenville, SC, unless you were referring to Greenville, NC.

Thanks waccamatt,
I should have said we were hoping to be in one of the smaller towns outside of Greenville (and my husband would work in G'ville, SC). We liked the towns of Piedmont and Powdersville. I guess my question is, are there any small towns like that near Summerville? Do you know much about Moncks Corner??
Thanks

OK Charliegirl, that makes sense now. The only thing I know about Moncks Corner is that there is a monastery there and it is close to Lake Moultrie and not too far from Charleston. I have never been there. Hopefully someone else will know more about the area.

That's where my husband is working, the boys and I have been making trips to Moncks Corner for a long time now. He's renting in North Charleston, we are checking out the city. Moncks Corner has a little, not much. My mom went to the monastery, not much she said. If you go in the water, make sure it's where there are no croc. The realtor that is selling our home, they use to have a boat, went to the lake. She saw these two eyes, no more boat................. she made her husband sell it..............
Where my husband works, they have two big ponds, with croc there too.
O yes watch your speed too, speed traps are very bad in that area also.
let me know if I can help, I will be going down in two weeks
good luck
dobbie girl

I guess what we are looking for is a place with at least .3 acre. But, I guess that is hard to come by in the developments there?? I am coming from a very small town in Maine, so we are used to not having much in the way of shopping, etc... Basically, I just need to be close to a grocery store and a wal mart. I would love to get your opinion of Moncks Corner. Safety, shopping, crime, etc.. We have 4 boys and will be homeschooling two and putting our high schooler in private (all we can afford), and then we have 2 year old besides. Any insight you could give would be really appreciated! Thanks.

Moncks Corner is a growing community here in SC. Google is rumored to be purchasing land for a large Data Center, and many new developements are springing up along RT 52 leading into Moncks Corner center. If you are looking for a very rural community you may need to go a little farther - like Pinopolis, Cross, or St. Stephens. Moderator cut: solicitation removed Good luck. I also moved from NE about 3 years ago.
