Hello,

I've been reading the boards for quite some time and have gathered alot of interesting info, thank you to all. I live in the Boston area and am pretty much fed up with the cold winters, high taxes, unfriendly people, high cost of living, etc., etc., etc. I was looking to possibly move down to either N. or S. Carolina. I am used to hustle and bustle being from the Boston area so I'd like to know what cities in either state would somewhat match that of a large city that would interest me. I prefer mountains and lakes over the ocean.
Also, how would I be treated there? Do they really dislike us Yankees? I certainly would not brag or boost that I am from the North.
Any input would be very helpful. I am a single person in the 30's if that helps.

Thanks!!!

Well many people from the north are coming down this way, so it's not like you would be alone. If you stick to the larger cities where most of the people work, then you will probably find most of your neighbors are just like you. In SC I would suggest Columbia, Greenville or somewhere close to Charlotte. In NC I would recommend either Raleigh or Charlotte. These seem to be the places that most people are going. Keep in mind though that what we consider large cities here, will probably seem small in comparison to you.
