Does anyone know anything about Lugoff?
Good friends are having a home built in Lugoff. They seem to love the area. Does anyone have any info on Lugoff?

Hello. I moved to Lugoff from the Columbia area 2 years ago. I love it. Rural but not hard-core country, clean, safe and best of all, full of friendly people. The area is undergoing a lot of home development where there was absolutely nothing so the new residents are enjoying the peace and quiet of non-city life. Home prices are reasonable and taxes are lower than in Richland County. I am not a South Carolina native so I can't go into the history of this area very deeply, but I can say I love it here and think that moving to this area is one of the best decisions I've made so far :-)

Lugoff and Camden are smaller towns with their own personality that are quickly becoming "suburbs" of Columbia. As the city of Columbia spralls out, its grown much closer to this area. More and more residents of these towns are commuters to Columbia.

I am interviewing for a teaching job at Wateree Elementary in Lugoff. Does anyone know anything about the area? How are the schools, crime rate, taxes, home prices, etc.,? Thanks

Scrubbybear, Lugoff is in the Columbia area. Development-wise it's an unincorporated extension of Northeast Richland County in Kershaw County.
(horse farms, decent schools, a variety of suburban-style homes, near Columbia, near Camden)

I am Salatheel that originally posted this.I got banned from the Ct. forum by a nazi moderator there that hates anyone liking the south more than Ct. We live on the Lugoff Elgin line for almost 2 years now. I really like the area. I don't think you have to worry at all about crime. I feel totally safe here. the only drawback is my job is in Cayce/W.Columbia. So a long commute. My wife is returning to Ct. because she "doesn't like the people she works with" and feels homesick. The area is very safe. I think the people are fine. I have no complaints at all. Other than I really prefer Charleston because of the ocean and atmosphere but that is a different subject. We are divorcing and as long as my job here continues I will stay in the Columbia area. But I am putting my house up for sale by owner as the commute is too long.
