Default Moving to the mountains

We are currently searching for land in the mountain areas west of Greenville. Our dream is to move to the area in 3-4 years, but we are buying land now befor it gets out of reach. Do any of you have any input on nice areas? We really liked the Table Rock area, and basically most areas from Pickens to Travelers Rest. We would like to avoid rapid development- we don't care about schools and shopping; just would like some peace and quiet and a few acres to fool around with. Thanks for any input!
