that's probably true, and it was about 10 years ago. But the point was that it went from $1700 to $5000 in three years.

All of this on a 80 year old man that thought he had found his ideal dream retirement home. He ended up selling it because on a fixed income, he just couldn't hold on to it anymore and have any kind of life.

He bought it because the taxes were low. Again, Rapid City showed their true colors on what they can do.

Take a look at the flood on June 9 of 1972. They condemed the land 3 blocks on either side of the creek and took it. The mayor said they did that so that nobody could ever build that close to the creek again. Now, the current administration, along with the last administration, is selling that land for development.

That's true jgussler-

Look at what all is being built on the old flood plain...
-New arena at the Civic Center
-10-story office high rises by Executive Golf Course
-Offices and banks

Kinda funny what the city will do once it realizes it has spent all of its money!

One thing I can't get over is how we have to pay taxes to keep the Journey Museum running... it's just a building full of the Duhamel's junk!!!

Vegas, I don't live in the Hills, but have lived in eastern So. Dak. my entire life. We love to vacation out in the Hills. My vote is that you at least have to check it out before you skip over it and put roots down in Denver.

Vegas, come on. Your young, be adventurous. I assume your single so you can get by pretty cheap and try something new. The hills West of town aren't quite like the Mountains West of Denver, but at least you can walk through these hills without killing yourself.

You already know what Denver is like.
